  • Recruited two teams for the Commuter Challenge team competition

Winner: Outstanding Promotion Medium Organization (video)

  • Fifteen percent of its 200 employees use an alternative transportation option regularly.
  • Offers subsidies on transit passes
  • SRF, along with a key competitor, created the “Alternative Commute Challenge” which encouraged friendly competition between employees at the two companies while reducing the number of drive-alone trips


TCF Bank is a regional financial institution providing banking and investment products to customers.

  • More than 75 percent of employees use an alternative commuting mode
  • Participates in Metropass
  • Encourages online or conference call meetings in lieu of driving
  • Hosts commuter fairs and regular employee communication about commuting
  • Provided gift cards to select individuals for Commuter Challenge participation


TempForce is a temporary staffing agency located in Edina.

  • Promoted ridesharing for those working in the Operation Christmas Child program
  • Encourages local employers and clients to research transportation choices in their area and provide employees with the free resources available


The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

  • Heavily promoted the Commuter Challenge and the team competition
  • Organized an internal competition where locations competed against one another based on the percentage of green commutes out of all commute trips taken in one week.
  • Hosted a bicycle maintenance work shop


Three Rivers Park District promotes environmental stewardship through outdoor education and recreation in a natural resources-based park system.

  • Created a “Lunch without Wheels” program that encourages employees to eat lunch at their worksite without making a car trip. One person is designated to pick up lunch for all other employees.
  • Provides a ridematching service for employees and displays a large carpool map in a visible area
