St. Paul Women on Bikes
Women on Bikes (WOB) works to make it safer and easier to ride a bike in St. Paul. Bicycling is a vital component of safe, vibrant streets that truly work for our city’s dynamic communities. Riding a bike to run errands, go to work, or just for fun is more popular than ever. Yet many women, individuals, and families don’t feel safe doing so and are deterred by the way the streets are built. The disconnectedness of the network leaves many gaps between safe routes. This makes biking feel unsafe, disconnects neighborhoods, destinations and places from one another, and ultimately means bicycling is a less attractive choice.
We believe St. Paul’s streets are for people and that we all deserve to feel safe moving through our city. Now is the time to empower women and families to have a voice in advocating for a more bike-friendly St. Paul. Not only will our neighborhoods benefit from slowed traffic and safer streets, but more bikeways will also boost economic development. A lot is changing in our city, but it’s a change that makes sense in light of St. Paul’s love of our neighborhoods, heritage, and unique character.
