Our winter sidewalks campaign is gaining traction
 Linda Mainquist, sidewalk advocate extraordinaire
Meet Linda Mainquist, a resident of the Seal Hi-Rise in St. Anthony Park. Linda, frustrated by seeing those with disabilities having to use the street because of impassable sidewalks, decided to do something about it.
Video: Watch Linda explain the inspiration for her advocacy work
Last winter we worked with Linda and her councilmember, Russ Stark to create an informational door hanger that can be left at properties that are in violation of the law stating that sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours of a snowfall.
Since
last year, with the help of many District Councils around the city, we've
chipped away at the problem. But there is more to be done
before we get to the bottom of this!
Help us spread the word! Distribute door hanger in your neighborhood. Check out our pickup location map for one near you.

Marshall Avenue plowing pilot in jeopardy
A car on Marshall Ave. ticketed Tuesday morning for parking during prohibited hours.
Do you drive, bike or bus on Marshall Avenue? If so, you'll want to help make this imperiled plowing pilot program a success.
In November of last year, parking regulations went into effect on a pilot basis on Marshall with the intent to allow snow plows to do a more thorough job of clearing the avenue.
Under the pilot, parking is prohibited year round between 2 am and 7 am on the south side of Marshall on Tuesdays and the north side on Wednesdays.
Plows are supposed to be clearing to the curb to prevent the accumulation of snow that normally pushes parked cars out into the bike lane and cyclists out into the street.
So far over 200 tickets have been issued, but neighbors and users of the stretch of Marshall between Mississippi River Boulevard and Hamline Avenue have been wondering about the effectiveness of the program.
The Union Park District Council will be holding a community meeting in April to discuss the future of the pilot.
Take action! Tell the city you care about the safety of motorists and cyclists and want this pilot to be a success. Here's how:
Parked cars preventing plowing? Request that they be ticketed: Contact St. Paul Police at 651-291-1111.
Cars gone, but not the snow? Request that Marshall be plowed: Contact Public works (answered 24 hours daily) at 651-292-6600.
