Bike Trails in your Backyard:
The Grand Rounds

Tuesday, July 27 @ 6PM

Meet in the parking lot on Mississippi River Blvd
just south of Hartford Ave

Join us for a family-friendly ride on the great off-road trail system right in your backyard. Highland Park is located near several safe, off-road cycling trails, including the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway. Come experience these trails as great options for exercise and transportation.

Transit at Your Own Pace

We’re having Metro Transit bring a bus for us to practice on. Come learn how to pay a fare, load a stroller, put a bike on the bus and plan a trip without the time constraints of a bus that’s in service. We’ll have fun activities for kids too!

Basic Bike Maintenance
Wednesday, August 11 @ 6PM

Hidden Falls Park picnic pavilion
Mississippi River Blvd at Magoffin Ave

Learn the basics of bike maintenance, such as how to change a tire and fix a slipped chain, as well as some simple preventive care tips to keep your bike running smoothly. Bring your bike and stay after for a short ride along the river trail!

Irish Fair or Bust! Ride

Are you Irish or curious about Irish culture? Join us on a bike ride across the Mississippi River through Lilydale to Harriet Island for a sample of this year’s Irish Fair of Minnesota. We’ll park our bikes and enjoy a little live music and dancing before riding back to Highland Park.

Women on Bikes:
Sam Morgan trail to Downtown St. Paul

Meet near the Homecroft Park tennis courts
Edgcumbe Rd & W Sheridan Ave

This women-only ride along parts of the Sam Morgan trail is a great opportunity to try out a bike commute to downtown St. Paul and to learn how to carry things by bike. We’ll head to the Black Dog Café in Lowertown and then back to Highland Park. All skill levels are welcome!

Sidewalk Poetry Stroll

Join internationally recognized novelist and poet, Diego Vazquez for a tour of Everyday Poems for City Sidewalk. We will walk to a cross section of poems that have been stamped into neighborhood sidewalks. Adventurous participants will be encouraged to create their own poems and to read aloud from the poems in the sidewalks.
