Mayor’s budget address

August 11, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Mayor Chris Coleman’s office today announced that the Mayor will deliver his 10th annual Budget Address on August 11, 2015, at noon at the Wellstone Center. The Mayor will also engage community members in conversations about their budget priorities during “pop-up” meetings and through an online budget portal.

“I am looking forward to speaking with community members about the city’s future, and making sure our top priorities reflect our city’s needs and aspirations,” said Mayor Coleman.

Mayor Coleman spoke with residents at Lake Phalen’s Dragon Festival this past Sunday during the first in a series of pop-up meetings aimed at inviting broader participation in the budgeting process. Augmented by Public Art Saint Paul’s new pop-up meeting truck created by City Artist Amanda Lovelee, the goal of the pop-up meetings is to reach residents where they work, live and play.

“We need to make it easier for people to engage in these conversations about our future,” said Mayor Coleman. “If we bring the meeting directly to community members while also creating opportunities to share input online – we are more likely to engage a diverse audience.”

New ways to engage

Four remaining pop-up meetings will be held throughout July at the following locations – including two with Mayor Coleman:

  • Thursday, July 16, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Lunds & Byerlys in Highland Park
  • NOTE: City staff will attend in lieu of the Mayor
  • Saturday, July 18, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Rondo Days, 560 Concordia Ave
